![]() We had a desk, couch, safe, mini-fridge, etc. Our room and bathroom were pretty standard, but OK. in Knoxville rarely will go anywhere other than the airport…to avoid waiting for an hour or more, make an advance appointment: ask the hotel for “Freddie”). Staff were very helpful, especially finally getting a cab to rescue one of us from the zoo (taxis, Uber, etc. Even from the 18th floor, we could readily hear lots of sirens. We managed to get a room on the top, 18th floor, facing the Tennessee River, but you can’t see the river from the 16th floor or lower. There is a stop for the free trolleys nearby (they go to Gay Street, the Old City, and the University, among other places). But it is also a similar distance, in the opposite direction, to Market Square, where most of the downtown restaurants are located. It is connected by a roofed-over “skyway” to the convention center, about 2.5 blocks away. The 18-story hotel has an excellent location. The three elevators were slow and sometimes. ![]() There were three bottles of water in the room, one of which cost $4, while the others were free and frequently replenished. Pay movies had a glitch: we were charged $30 for one movie, but later refunded about $9…still expensive. The TV failed once, and the safe showed “low battery”, but maintenance responded rapidly. ![]()
